Dangerous Love

Last week I met danger in the form of mutual attraction
The daughters of previous teen mothers wanted attention
Even though they were in high school to learn to be responsible
They acted on attracting their male classmate

A week later I was invited to speak to their class
on the topic of "How to Manage the Temptations as a Teenager"
Since I've devoted my study to "How to Root-Out Teenage Pregnancy."
Some of today's grandparents are supporting irresponsible teenagers
and I hear the unspoken words of their lament with gentleness
What a pity it is for our so-called highly scientifically prosperous society
and our policy makers to see young people halted in their growth and struggling
Funding was provided for school buildings, computers and white-boards
But where is the ethical and moral training young so desperately need?
Are parents working with teachers or
leaving them alone with a "different" babysitter?
Do parents see the school administrators as giving out
unfair justice or set boundaries as well?
Where and when did it happen that parents dropped the ball
on teaching their young self-discipline?

Step away from being a greeter at Wal-Mart,
playing cards or dancing the afternoon away
Invest in a youth so he/she has more of a future
than working for fast-food restaurants

It is time for the elders to assist the teens
in setting their own boundaries.
Help a youth study to be a better student
without touching or tasting someone else's saliva
Teach what it means to stay away from early love
and get them in involved in learning to become
a capable earner and self-sustainer for their future family
Then they will be contributors of a civilized peaceful community
This will allow them to live in harmony
