A Crystal Ring

I'm a rolling rock in the river
They call me a mere river rock
A gentleman picked me up
He's known for his fine wit
On his next trip to the big city
He found and walked with a beauty
They were the talk of the town
They took me, a mere rock, downtown

Looking for a Goldsmith
The beautiful lady was a wordsmith
The gentleman found a jewelry shop
They handed me over with the clear hope

That I was a jewel in the raw
The jewelry owner verified the rare find

A few days later set within the gold
I became Crystal's ring.
