The Witness Spirit

I dwell in the stability of the spirit

No one can make a move
I watch the actions of others
of Thy vast universal-force
It's mighty strength moves
through infinitive space
and the time is passing
of the deathless soul.

The mute timeless but firmness
of an energy that whirls around
The stars and the moon in
its joint space shuttle
Like a speedy huge bird
through windless space
with its diamond ring
of joy without hurt

It rises from the dimmest
and deepest ocean
without accepting minds of pain
and the pouring hearts of men
Then it touches on some height
of luminous awareness
The bliss and grace
of the eternal power.  

All this I bear with

ascending stillness to Thee

with a courageous will.
