Eyes waiting

Those two eyes in the dark

They’re surprised, and disturbing

The owner's voice is muffled

I can't hear

what he is saying

but is clearly nervous

A century has passed,

My lids flicker indicating

I've traveled in time

Capturing a lifetime

of one who wanted to see

His blue eyes kept

unspeakable secrets

I dry my tears as I think

about visiting home long ago

His lips had forgotten to smile!

But they were pursed

to let his story roll over them 

I'm hearing a faint voice
